wednesday february 17th

i made chili. whenever i make chili-ish things i use garam masala and cinnamon. that is a hugely sought-after secret. NO IT'S NOT!!



i cleaned out my freezer today and found some roasted tomatoes i had made in the summer. was pretty stoked to throw those suckers into the pot!!!



i also put in: green peppers, jalapeno peppers, mushrooms, onion, green onion, red kidney beans, both ground pork and beef (i think...coulda been moose), crushed tomatoes, a bit of brown sugar, chili powder, garlic, oregano...think that's it.



it got really real when i put the chili into ancient 1970s french onion soup bowls (after simmering for 1000 hours) and covered it with some pastry...topped with butter, parsley, garlic, old cheddar and some diced roasted tomatoes.

Wow you really go all-out with chili. I've never tried making anything with pastry. I'm going to have to try your super secret garam masala/cinnamon tip out as soon as i can get a hold of some garam masala (alas, in my last break-up, i got the tandoori masala and she got the garam...)
